Received an email with sad news from Kenny Sykes. Ken who is in Australia for the world cup informed me that Steve Blake an ex Parksider passed away last Monday.
He thinks his funeral will be held Friday 10th November in York.
Ken does not know the full details yet but will keep me updated with information.
In his email Kens says
' I am sure a good turn out by the blazer brigade would mean a lot to his family. If I'd been around I would have been trying to get the blazer brigade out in force'.
Steve signed for Hunslet in 1969 making his debut against Leeds RL at Parkside on the 8th September 1969.
His final appearance in Hunslet colours was at Post Office Rd against Featherstone Rovers on 3rd April 1972.
In Steve's time at Parkside he made 64 first team appearances, kicked 7 goals and scored 8 tries.
Our deepest sympathy to all of Steve's family.

The above txt for the photo says:-
A RIP ... a gasp ... and a hell - for - leather Rugby League game freezes to a standstill. With the click of his shutter, photographer Roland Hicklin pinpoints magnificently a moment of utter anti - climax.
It happened when Salford were at home to Hunslet before an eager crowd of thousands. Then Hunslet scrum - half was stripped of his defences.
Ball in hand, shorts in shreds, he trots forward apologetically while a Salford player shrugs in hopeless resignation
