Jack & Tinnys Birthday

LATEST NEWSPosted by PETER JARVIS, EDITOR IN CHIEF Tue, February 12, 2019 03:27PM

Two more birthdays to celebrate this week.

Jack Richardson born on the 14th February 1950 a Valentines day baby. Jack is the treasure of our Ex Players association and it is rumoured that he learnt his trade from the old Hunslet RL secretary George Richardson. Jack made his 1st team debut against Swinton RLFC in the 1970/71 season and was a member of the last Hunslet side to play at Parkside in 1973. Jacks Hunslet Heritage number is 1115

He will be celebrating his birthday this year in Australia along with his good wife Margret.

GORDON GREENWOOD TINDALL... born on the 17th February 1936.

Gordon signed for Hunslet 25/3/1954 making his 1st team against Wigan RL on the 14/8/1954.

The rumour is that Tinny may be the next Lord Mayor of Wakefield.

Having completed spells as CEO of the local Neighbourhood Watch and Chairman of the Snow Shifting Committee.

According to Gordons old pal George...
Tinny resigned from the Neighbourhood watch because he didn't receive a MBE in the New Years Honours list and that he relinquished the positions as Chairman of the Snow Shifting Committee when he realised that he had to pay for the grit and spades out of his honorarium. smiley

Hi All,

Only another ten months till Christmas.smiley

Eight ex Parksiders have their birthdays in February so I’ve decided to spread it out over the month and wish them a happy birthday two at a time.

The first two are Brian Culley and George Gomersall both were born under the Zodiac sign of Aquarius. Apparently they are 'lovers of things that are unusual'

BRIAN CULLEY was born on the 11th February 1937.

Brian was an outstanding second row forward signing professional forms for Hunslet RLFC in 1955 for the massive sum of £25.00 he finished his playing career for Hunslet around 1960. He was called up to do his National Service and had the honour to represent the Combined Services R.L. team playing alongside the likes of Ken Gowers, Derek Hallas, Mick Sullivan, Ike Southwood & Jim Challinor.

Brian is a regular attender at the annual Hunslet ex Parkside Players reunion lunch and as only missed out on one since its formation in 1973.

GEORGE GOMERSALL was born on the 11th February 1939. You are now an Octogenarian (that means your 80 George)

George was a junior international at U-19 level he signed professional for Hunslet RLFC in September 1958 receiving a fee of £250.00 he made his 1st Team debut at Parkside against Batley RLFC on the 26th September 1959.

On the 4th April 1963 George was transferred to Bradford Northern for a fee of £500.00
